Genoa, April 17, 2024 - The extraordinary commissioners of Acciaierie d'Italia, Giovanni Fiori, Giancarlo Quaranta and Davide Tabarelli, spoke this morning at the celebration of the Easter Precept at Acciaierie di Cornigliano in Genoa.
The celebration, in the presence of the Archbishop of Genoa, Archbishop Marco Tasca, the Genoa City Council's Councillor for Economic Development, Mario Mascia, representatives of the Police Forces and the main trade unions, was an opportunity to reiterate the objectives of Acciaierie d'Italia's path of redevelopment and restart, with Cornigliano and Taranto as its main strategic sites.
Giovanni Fiori, on behalf of the three extraordinary commissioners, said, "Cornigliano is the Italian steel industry, the cradle of one of our country's most important manufacturing sectors. We accepted the assignment with a great sense of responsibility and with great pride, because the country needs Italian steel and the Italian steel industry. In a month and a half we have launched a short-term restart plan, the first plants have started and we are defining in these days a medium-term industrial plan. As soon as it is finalized it will be presented to the trade unions, to show that Acciaierie d'Italia is a company that can restart strongly. At the end of next year, the goal is to get to producing the maximum tons of steel allowed by the current regulatory environment. The company is currently in a difficult condition, the effort now must be focused on putting in order a reality that must return to being the engine of the Italian steel industry. We are seeing extraordinarily the commitment of workers, territories and politics: all essential factors for the restart and rebirth of an important asset of Italian industry."
